众所周知,在美国的亚马逊生态中有这么一群人,他们有一份全职工作,同时也利用业余时间在美亚开店。他们中有的只能稍稍帮补家用,有的竟也能年入数百万美刀,而许多成功的职业大卖,都是从业余卖家成长起来的。无论成功与否,大多数业余卖家的心中都有一个纠结:到底什么时候辞职all in呢?

两天前,就有人在Reddit/FBA讨论区抛出了这个问题,此帖一出(原帖传送门,需VPN),四海八荒各路神仙迅速集结,让我们一起去看看他们都聊了些什么吧!

我想请问下那些辞了职当职业卖家的大大们,你们FBA年收入多少的时候决定辞职的?

I worked a terrible sales job where I only had to put in 6 hours a day so I could give it my all with FBA at night/weekends. I was determined to put 100% behind something. I quit after I hit $100 profit a day as my wife's salary could support us and we both agreed that I could ramp this thing.

18 months after my first order (and 12 months after I quit my job) my wife is able to stop consulting because FBA is so successful. We did over $700k in revenue this year with an awesome profit margin on PL items.

I FXXKING love working on Amazon. At the end of the day, everything is on me whether it works or not. There are always new things to learn, new obstacles to figure out, and new levers to pull to optimize listings/products. I am nothing but optimistic about doubling revenue in 2019.

 

我在一家很烂的公司做销售,一天只需要工作6小时,这样我就可以在晚上和周末专心做FBA了。我觉得要做一件事就要100%专心,所以在我可以每天平均盈利100刀的时候就把销售的工作辞了,这样我FBA的收入和我老婆的收入就可以供我们生活,我们共同决心要把FBA做大。

我出第一单的18个月后(也就是辞职的12个月后),我老婆也把工作辞了,因为FBA的生意已经相当成功了。我们今年做自有品牌有70万刀的收入,利润率也非常高。

我真TMD喜欢当亚马逊卖家。最终我对我店铺的成功与否负责。每天都有新的东西要学,新的问题要解决,新的方法来优化Listing和产品。我对2019年收入翻倍有信心极了。

As a wife and husband combo, did you guys have shared and joint bank accounts and shared capital costs when starting out? I'm not married but I'm always curious how other couples handle business ventures.

你们两夫妻刚开店的时候是共有一个银行账户并且均分前期投资吗?我未婚,但是很好奇夫妻店都是怎么负担前期投资的。

Disclaimer: This is what works for us. Everyone has different relationships.

From engagement to our first few years of marriage, we split bills/costs 50/50 and had our own bank accounts (checking and savings).

I was able to learn the ropes and start Amazon with less than $2k which I bankrolled. To be honest, I started my first order with only $500....just a small order of nonbranded commodity product to learn the system and see what was working/not working.

I would have NEVER thought about quitting my job if my wife didn't have my back 100%. My background is very blue collar and the idea of not being the breadwinner (or even directly providing for us) was tough but only made me more determined to scale and be successful.

Having her to bounce strat off of and talk about what I wanted to spend money on to grow the business helped immensely. We went from stressing about spending $2k on one supplier order to 18 months later happily wiring $100k to China for new orders.

如果我老婆没有100%支持我的话,我想都不会想辞职的事情。我成长的背景比较传统,一想到自己不是家里的经济支柱就会让我压力山大,同时也更有决心要把FBA生意做得更成功。

有我老婆跟我一起讨论运营和选品策略非常有帮助。我们一开始的时候要花2千刀进货都很紧张,而18个月以后我们已经眼睛都不眨往中国一打就是10万刀了。

Oh yeah- now all money is joint and shared 50/50. We follow pretty much all FI advice out there and make sure that we're equally allocating money to savings, Roth, and stock index funds.

We're also both "earning" the same amount from the business now that we're actually payrolled from our S-Corp. There's a lot of stupid stuff we've learned in the past few months to limit our tax liability going forward.


对了,现在所有的钱都放在夫妻共有账户五五分了。我们听从许多投资机构的建议,把我们的钱均分在储蓄,Roth养老金(小编按:美国一种税后收入的养老金投资账户)和股指基金上进行投资。

我们现在从自己的S型公司(小编按:美国一种公司类型,适合中小企业)给自己开“工资”,“工资”也是一样的。我们过去几个月学到了很多通过S型公司省税的蠢办法。

I've got no tax secrets for you- just your standard stuff.

It got to the point this year where it was long overdue to incorporate (as an S-Corp). Tax savings here are really evident.

We've also hired a new accountant with experience on FBA business as well as helping make sure we qualify for Foreign Earned Income Exclusion since we live outside of the USA but are US citizens.

Our old accountant was very traditional (and way too conservative). .

The final thing which I think some people might gloss over is recording every last dollar you spend on business as a business expense. Cell phone, internet, etc. If you can justify it's use (or a percentage of its use) for business you need to be recording that stuff.

没什么秘诀,就那几条烂大街的经验之谈吧:

首先,今年我们发现自己其实早该注册公司了(S型公司),注册了以后省税还省得蛮多的。

其次,我们请了一个新的对FBA有丰富经验的会计。Ta帮我们把我们FBA的一部分收入都计作不用收税的境外收入了,因为我们是住在国外的美国公民。我们以前用的会计太传统和保守了。

最后这个其实没什么大不了的,但是很多花销的全部或部分都可以计作商业花销,譬如手机话费和网费。这些全都要做记录(小编:从夫妻相处之道,到理财,避税经验谈,这位卖家也算是知无不言了)

One thing I've always wondered is how boring it would get. Sure you could use your 8-5 time to work on the business more and expand into your own office and all that, but if you just quit your job how lonely and boring would that day to day be?

I do SEO and niche websites too and follow a few people who do nothing but work on their websites at coffee shops every day and it sounds fucking awful. Definitely some awesome benefits to that style of freedom, but damn.

我一直想问的一个问题是,全职做FBA会不会很无聊啊?你现在可以在朝8晚5的时候偷偷做点自己FBA的事情,下班后也可以继续,但是如果辞了职全职做FBA,那一天都怎么过啊,会不会特别无聊?

我自己做一些SEO也给人做一些小众的网站。我认识一些人天天就坐在咖啡店里做自己的网站,感觉太TM无趣了。自由确实是一大好处,但是感觉真无聊。

I think one of my issues would be staying focused. Right now, I work on FBA at night after my kids go to sleep. I don't focus on it every single night but I'm pretty consistent. I'm worried if I had 40+ extra hours a week I would lose my rhythm and do fuck all.

Maybe I'm wrong and I just like to tell myself this but I really don't know. I don't hate my 8-5 so I have nothing to complain about at least.

我现在主要的问题是集中精力。现在我把我的孩子们哄去睡了以后才开始做FBA的事,我没办法每天晚上都花很长时间做FBA,但是还是比较有规律的。我担心如果我全职做FBA了,要是每周必须工作80小时以上的话,我会没办法承受。

可能我只是这样骗自己,但是至少我也不讨厌我朝8晚5的工作,所以也没什么好抱怨的。

I was balancing both FBA and a full time job for years, but was laid off last April. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to stay busy enough or remain focused, but I found a routine that worked for me pretty quickly. I really enjoyed it for the time I had, but started a new job a few months ago.

I don't think I'd go full time until I hit at least $5 million in sales, probably more. I have a business partner, so I've got to split profits.

 

说说我自己的经历吧:好几年我都在FBA和自己的全职工作之间平衡,但我今年4月被裁员了。我很担心我会没法充分利用自己多出来的时间,集中精力做我的FBA,但我找到了一个好套路,让自己更有效率。那段时间我非常享受,但我一两个月前又找了份新工作。

回答楼主最初的问题,恐怕没有500万的销售额甚至更多我都不敢辞职。我的FBA生意有一个生意伙伴,得跟ta分成呢。

这位热心网友2号的境遇恐怕说出了大多业余FBA卖家的心声:

1、虽然已经有一些成绩,但是还是担心美亚环境不稳定;

2、担心全职以后自控力不足或者环境变化,失去工作重心,反而无法100%集中做FBA 

中美国情不同,美国的大多数的公司职员5点钟准时下班,刨去晚饭和陪家人,每天平均还能拿出4-5小时时间来做FBA,这样的环境是足以培养出一大批利用晚上和周末的时间的业余卖家的。


业余卖家们虽然纠结,虽然辛苦,但是在美亚的创收是真金白银的,并且无论最终是否纵身一跃成为全职卖家,这样紧凑的节奏和跟白天工作全然不同的工作经历绝对会成为业余卖家们职业道路上的财富(这一点小编深有体会,毕竟数魔创立之初,小编也是每天白天在美国某著名互联网公司工作,晚上跟国内数魔的团队工作至深夜了一年之久呢)。


反观我大天朝,工作压力和强度远远大于美帝,大多数年轻人每天连吃饭洗澡的时间都没有,更别说4-5个小时时间干别的了,于是只好看着这白花花的银两眼睁睁地流走。


但是,别人家的孩子也是存在的!
